How to Submit a Request
Public information requests may be made in any of the following ways:
- by mailing a written request to City Hall
- by delivering a written request in person at City Hall
To help the town respond as efficiently as possible, requests should include enough detail to identify the records or information being requested.
What to Include
When submitting a request, please provide:
- your name
- contact information
- a clear description of the records or information requested
- any relevant dates, locations, names, or departments involved, if known
Providing specific details helps reduce delays and improves the town’s ability to locate the requested records.
Response and Availability
The Town of Louisville will review each request and respond in accordance with applicable law and the availability of the requested records. Some records may not be immediately available, and certain records may be exempt from disclosure or subject to legal limitations.
Submitting a request does not guarantee that all requested records can be released.
Police video recordings, including body-worn and in-car camera footage, are not public records for general release. Requests to view or obtain access to recordings will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis in accordance with Alabama law, department policy, and the status of any investigation or prosecution.
Costs and Copies
Depending on the nature of the request, copying or production costs may apply. If any fees are required, the requester may be notified before the records are provided.
Where to Submit a Request
Written requests may also be mailed or delivered to City Hall during normal business hours.
