LPD’s New Care Check Program: Because Everyone Could Use a Guardian Angel

LOUISVILLE, AL – The Louisville Police Department is rolling out Care Check, a program that turns wellness checks from reactive responses into proactive care. Whether it’s an elderly parent living alone or a latchkey kid home after school, Care Check provides scheduled safety visits tailored to individual needs.

“Every community has vulnerable members who could use an extra set of eyes watching out for them,” says Chief Michael Saad. “Care Check isn’t about waiting for something to go wrong – it’s about making sure our community members are okay before there’s a problem.”

The program represents a shift from traditional policing to proactive community care, offering regular check-ins that work around LPD’s emergency response duties. While exact visit times may vary based on emergency calls, enrolled community members can count on consistent monitoring.

“It’s like having a trusted neighbor checking in,” Saad explains, “except this neighbor wears a badge and has emergency services on speed dial.”

The service represents part of LPD’s broader campaign to preserve and protect the quality of life for Louisville through compassionate, professional service.
